The Background and history of NBCC
Meetings at Northern Beaches Christian Centre in the Mona Vale Community Centre began in December 1979. Midweek bible studies had been held by Paul OSullivan in the Northern Beaches in Newport since 1974, after Paul and Tineke completed their Faith Centre Ministry Training College course on the North Shore in Sydney.
In 1975 Paul and Tineke started Gosford Christian Centre and also travelled with their then two children, Jessica and Matthew, to the Philippines where they lived for eight months in 1976, helping to set in the indigenous Filipino leadership for Christian Renewal Center in Manilla.
In 1981 Northern beaches Christian School was commenced in the nearby Serbian Orthodox Church hall in Vineyard St. Mona Vale. In 1982 the school relocated to Booralie Rd. Terrey Hills on a leased five-acre block. In 1984 a school building program commenced on a 4.5-hectare (11acre) block of land further down Booralie Rd, and in 1987 a church auditorium was built. The church moved from the Mona vale Community centre up to the new auditorium.
(Click the following link for further details of the school) http://www.spiritcode.com/Site/Starting_a_School/Starting_a_School.html
Both the school and the church continued to grow, with five other church plants growing out of NBCC over the years. In 2002 the church endeavoured to purchase a larger block of land up on Mona vale Rd., hoping to extend both school and church facilities, but this venture met with difficulties and ultimately failed. The school however continued to grow successfully and eventually occupied the entire site in Terrey Hills. In 2005 it became necessary for Paul and the leadership team to temporarily relocate back to Mona Vale Community Hall. NOW we meet at the Seventh day Adventist Church in Vineyard St. at 10 AM on Sundays
